Summer was great, it was a time to unwind, spend time with loved ones and discover new places or hobbies. But whilst I did everything not to put on weight, I believe it was that extra portion I had. And I’ve certainly noticed the extra thickness round my waist and certain places……oh wow!!! I must get rid of the extra weight immediately.
STOP before you embark on some funky diet that is supposed to crash your weight instantly.
We at Refreshed Healthy Living will give you some useful tips on losing the weight. Going on a crash diet is more detrimental because once you come off it, the body will believe it had been through a starvation period and will start storing food to avoid that episode in the future. This will make you much heavier than you were before you went on the crush diet.
The first thing is to intend it rather than wanting it. Wanting is simply wishing you can have or do a particular thing it. Intending means you’re committed to achieving something by making a plan for success—and sticking to it!
Let’s get the weight down!
- Think long term – losing too much weight too fast can lead to a series of health problems including nutrient deficiency, gallstones, and a weakened immune system.
- Get back to homemade food – the calorie count is less and there are no hidden or empty calories as you are in control of what you will be cooking.
- Drink water – by drinking water you’ll find that you will very likely eat less and be more in control of your appetite when you drink water throughout the day and it will also help cut down on your post-holiday food cravings.
- Start exercising – this won’t get rid of all of your excess weight very quickly, but it can go a long way in helping you transition to a healthier lifestyle.
- Don’t completely deprive yourself – allow yourself a tiny indulgence throughout the week to keep you sane and stop you from binging later on.
- Be wary of weight loss supplements – many of these supplements contain ingredients that are hazardous to your health. If you must take supplements speak to your doctor first.
- Get plenty sleep – a lack of sleep can make you gain weight. Too little sleep triggers a cortisol spike. Sleep helps in lowering cortisol levels.
That all said, now let’s bring that weight down.
